All Mentors:  Librarians, Counselors, Friends, Others!
YOU can make a difference!

Help children, youth, and adults use this site.

Here are some simple steps and ideas:

1.  Read more about I4I on the "Kids," "Youth," and "Adults" pages.  Learn how to "Send in Your Ideas."

2.  Show the I4I website to the people you are mentoring and helping.  If you are at a site like a library, make and put up a poster about the website.  Get excited and energized about the website and the potential for ideas and actions to make the world a better place to live.  Inspire creativity and hope.

3.  Go through the website with the people you mentor and help them learn about it and how to use it.

4.  You can talk together about what Peace, Green-Living, and Health are about and why they are important to the world.  Listen to what the person says about these topics.  Help the person think of things the person might want to do or that you might want to do together as Actions. Start a project together.

5.  Let the person know that he or she has good ideas and can do things everyday that help the world.  The ideas and actions can be very simple and easy, or more difficult to do.  It does not matter.  Every idea and action for Peace, Green-Living, and Health is important.

For example, a 4 year old might say for an Action, "I cleaned up the backyard today."  You can help the 4 year old put this down on the I4I Form as an Action for "Green-Living."  Or, a 12 year old might say for an Idea for Health, "It would be great if we started a "Big Brother" and "Big Sister" biking team in our community."  You can guide the young person on how to fill in an I4I form with that "Idea."  Ideas are just that.  They are ideas that may not be acted upon yet.  That is fine.  Others may read them and decide to do them.

Also, remember anyone can write and send in a
Poem as an "Idea" or "Action."  If the person you are mentoring is interested in writing a poem for the website, you can help them do that.

Don't worry if the person you are mentoring thinks of something that is already posted on the website.  That is okay.  The person can send it in for posting too.  It is part of starting a good habit.  Let people copy and build on others' ideas and actions.  The important thing is that people get in the regular habit of thinking and acting in ways that help the world.

Help the person understand and follow the I4I
Rules for Ideas and Actions.

6.
The person you are mentoring may need help sending in their ideas and actions.  If the person you are mentoring is a child or youth, you will want to work with his or her parents or family member.  You can assist them, as needed.

7.  Help the person
explore the ideas and actions on the website to get them thinking about other things they can do.  This is a great opportunity for you to work together on the big challenges of world peace, green-living, and health.  Put ideas together to make a new idea.  Or, if the person sees a good action they want to do, you may help them do it and then send it in as their Action.

8.  Encourage the person to share their ideas and actions.  Show them how the ideas and actions are growing on the website and coming from different people in other places.  Tell them how they are helping.  Watch the
World Banners grow!

9.  Tell them about the Awards and the
HONOR CERTIFICATES.  Show them how they can watch their collection of ideas and actions grow on the website.

10.  Find special ways to honor the person for sending in ideas and actions.  Find out more about
Power Groups and tell schools, scout troops, and other groups and organizations.

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act but a habit." Aristotle
